About the Chefs:

Chef Kate Smith is the owner of Kate Smith Soirée and Butterfield's Bakery& Market. She first learned to make fresh pasta during her Culinary studies at Apicius International School of Culinary Arts in Florence, Italy 4 years ago, and she's been cooking fresh pasta ever since! She graduated with a hospitality management degree from Oklahoma State university, and she officially started her macaron business in October 2018. She opened her permanent location at the Lenexa Public Market June 22, 2019.

Chef Lora Bardal fell in love with food while cooking and baking with her mom at a young age. Wanting to follow her passion, she joined a culinary academy at her high school and competed in team cooking competitions. After high school, she enrolled at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York in the Baking and Pastry program. With this program, she learned from the top pastry chefs this country has to offer. She graduated at the top of her class and set out on a new adventure. Combining her love of travel and food, she moved from coast to coast learning under different pastry chefs and expanded her knowledge of the connection between good food and happiness!
